50 years ago (1963)

Another in the series on mental health would take place at Everett Junior College with a special panel made up of The Rev. Ivan Merrick, pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church; Orlin Roth, personnel director at Simpson Lee; the Rev. Jack Tuell, with the Methodist Church; Dr. Maybelle Chapman, educator, and Dr. Howard Westover, M.D.

Terry Anthony Hensley, son of Mrs. Betty K. Hensley, 2936 Colby Ave., enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the Everett Navy Station on Feb. 12. He was flown to San Diego via commercial airline where he would undergo nine weeks of recruit training.

25 years ago (1988)

Dan Coerber, Joe Klein, Jon Dotson, Matt Satterlee and Carla Rogers, students at Lake Stevens Middle School, were studying genetics in their science classes. In Bob Ingraham's eighth-grade class, the dissecting scalpels had been put away and students were now more concerned with genes than innards.

Puget Park Merchants were celebrating their fifth anniversary. Businesses included Puget Park Pet & Grooming, Bike Works, taco time, Beverage Special, LoCost Housewares, Sun Cleaners, Radio Shack, Wholesale Craft & Floral, Albertson, Al's Lock & Key, Sun N Soak, Washboard Laundromat, Classic Cuts and Puget Park Video.
