Prep girls basketball: Shoreline Christian 63, Tulalip Heritage 51

MOUNT VERNON -- Bella Hermesch had 24 points, eight rebounds, six steals and four blocks to lead Shoreline Christian to a 63-51 win over Tulalip Heritage in the championship game of the girls 1B Tri-District Tournament.
Sarah Ott had 14 points and Kari Holly added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Crusaders.
Katia Brown scored 19 points and Adiya Jones-Smith had 16 to provide the bulk of the Hawks' scoring.
After taking a 19-16 lead after the first quarter, Shoreline Christian outscored the Hawks 15-5 in the second to take control of the game. Hermesch scored seven points in the quarter and followed that up with eight of Shoreline Christian's 10 points in the third to keep the Crusaders in the lead. Holly and Ott had six points apiece in the final period to close out Shoreline Christian's first win in three tries against Tulalip Heritage this season.
Both teams advanced to Friday's regionals round at Lynnwood H.S. Tulalip Heritage will play St. John-Endicott at 6 p.m. The Crusaders follow at 8 p.m. against Mount Rainier Lutheran.
