Learn: Forum on sex trafficking
The Soroptimist International of Marysville and Marysville PTA Council plan a Sex Trafficking Community Awareness event from 7 to 9 p.m. March 5 at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Sex trafficking is the second-largest and fastest-growing criminal industry in the world and a local problem, too. There will be a short video, speakers and a time for questions and answers.
Run: Obstacle run aids cancer center
A Fire and Ice Run, including a 5K course with more than 20 obstacles, is scheduled for March 2 at Green Meadow Farms, 11900 92nd St. SE, Snohomish.
Structured to be as hard as you'd like, the course infuses elements of fire and ice as participants climb, run and jump their way through the course.
Proceeds benefit the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Volunteer: Cascade hospital seeks help
Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington is recruiting new volunteers to work in a variety of positions, from greeting patients and visitors to helping out in the emergency department.
Students looking to fulfill volunteer requirements are welcome to apply, as well as those interested in a future in health care.
Upcoming volunteer orientation sessions: 5 p.m. March 5, 2 p.m. March 20, 5 p.m. April 2, and 2 p.m. April 17.

Date: Marysville Y offers Night Out
The Marysville Family YMCA plans a Kids Night Out fundraiser March 1.
Parents can drop off their children, ages 8-11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Y, 6420 60th Drive NE. The kids will get to swim, play and hang out in the teen center.
Cost is $9 ($8 for YMCA members). All proceeds benefit the Youth and Government teen program.

Donate: Jeans 4 Teens at Cocoon
Glacier Peak High School DECA is holding a jean drive called Jeans 4 Teens.
The student club is seeking donations of new or gently worn jeans to donate to The Cocoon House, a local teen shelter in Everett. The club's goal is to collect 2,000 pairs of jeans.
Donations can be dropped off at the high school through March 1 at the main office on the campus at 7401 144th Place SE, Snohomish.
Screen: Buy tickets for 'Girl Rising'
The Zonta Club of Everett and the University of Washington Women's Center plan to host a screening of the film, "Girl Rising," at 7:30 p.m. March 7 at the Regal Everett Mall Stadium 16, 1402 SE Everett Mall Way.
The film examines the need for women's education throughout the world.
