EVERETT — Snohomish County’s two largest cities have joined a popular online crime-mapping system.
People who live in Everett and Marysville now can access crime report data for their city police departments at www.crimemapping.com/map/wa/snohomishcounty.
The site offers about 90 days of data, about 24 hours after real-time.
Lots of other police departments in the county already use the service, including the sheriff’s office, Arlington, Stanwood and Snohomish. More east and north county police departments also recently joined.
People can search for information for specific crimes, dates and neighborhoods, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
People in Marysville can access the information through the city’s website, http://marysvillewa.gov. It’s also a good resource for people considering a move or buying a home, Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
Mobile applications are available, including alerts for crimes in certain areas, such as someone’s home, work or children’s school.
The site helps neighbors stay aware of crime trends and improves the relationship between police and the community, Everett police Capt. Greg Lineberry said.
