SEATTLE -- An Everett woman was sentenced Friday to five years in federal prison for her part in a drug- and gun-trafficking organzation.

Micalia Valenzuela, 32, was a courier for a drug traffickers who were selling drugs from Mexico and smuggling guns back across the border, according to federal prosecutors. They say Valenzuela was heard on court-authorized wiretaps talking about drug and gun smuggling and advocating violence against targets in Mexico.

She and 34 other people, including her father, were indicted in U.S. District Court in Seattle as members of the drug trafficking organization. She was arrested last year at her Everett apartment. Investigators found heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine, along with a loaded revolver and body armor. They also allegedly found a "shopping list" of firearms that included assault rifles.

Snohomish police detectives and the Snohomish Regional Drug and Gang Task Force helped with the investigation.
