Here in the good ol' United States, St. Patrick's Day is a holiday mostly known for alcohol -- good Irish whiskey if you're lucky, green beer if you're less so. But there's more to the holiday than booze -- there's also food!
You can, of course, make corned beef at home, or you can go out and enjoy the holiday in the company of other revelers.
If you'd like to celebrate in style and not have to do the washing-up, here are a few suggestions for a fulfilling St. Patrick's Day weekend. (The actual holiday is Sunday).
The Irishmen

This popular pub on Colby Avenue in Everett keeps the Irish spirit alive all year. St. Patrick's Day, though, is an especially favorable time to visit.
The pub will celebrate all day on Sunday. It will be open extended hours, from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday. There will be live music and dancing. And, of course, there will be food.
You'll find favorites like shepherds pie and a traditional Irish breakfast: Irish bangers, black and white pudding and Irish bacon. The Guinness beef stew would also be a fitting meal. And If you'd like to hear even more live music, The Voodoos are scheduled to play at 9 p.m. Saturday at the pub.
