SEATTLE — A convicted rapist who broke into a house in Seattle’s University District and threatened six women with a knife has been convicted of charges including kidnapping and burglary.
Robert Douglas Hitt had been released from prison two months before the March 5, 2012, home invasion after serving 10 years for first-degree rape. He was classified a Level 2 sex offender.
The Seattle Times reported that because two of the charges in the home invasion carried sexual-motivation allegations, Hitt will face a life sentence under Washington’s “two strikes” law for repeat sex offenders. He was convicted Wednesday.
Police said he broke into the home and held six young women at knifepoint, forcing one to undress. The women were all University of Washington students. Another roommate who was hiding called 911.
