Off-duty police sergeant injured in crash
MONROE -- An off-duty Seattle police sergeant was seriously injured early Tuesday morning in a crash a few miles south of Monroe.
The sergeant was driving eastbound along Highway 522 in a 1998 Ford pickup about 1:15 a.m., according to a Washington State Patrol memo.
Investigators believe his pickup slammed into a Dodge pickup that had stopped for traffic. The impact sent the Dodge into another car, and the Ford went into a ditch.
The sergeant, 65, of Seattle, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was listed in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
No other serious injuries were reported.
Troopers are investigating.
