MARYSVILLE — With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Colton Sandhoffer hit a two-run single to carry Cedarcrest to a 5-3 win over Lakewood in a Cascade Conference game on Monday.
Sandhoffer, in addition to his game-winning base hit, hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to get the Red Wolves on the board and batted 2-for-4 with three RBI, all while taking the mound in the top of the seventh, allowing no-hits in his three innings of relief and earning the victory.
“(Our starter) Max Thomas had a real gutsy performance,” said Cedarcrest head coach Scott Goldsberry. “Colton really got us going with his home run. He really stepped up and had some some at bats in those last few innings.”
Cougars’ starting pitcher Andrew Bean shut out the Red Wolves for the game’s first four innings and finished 3-for-4 at the plate in the loss.
