Learn: Event honors conservation efforts
The Snohomish Conservation District hosts its annual Open House and Awards Reception, 4-6 p.m. today at Legion Hall, 145 Alverson Blvd. in Everett.
The public is invited to learn more about the district's work to promote and encourage conservation and responsible use of natural resources.
The guest speaker is Ryan Hembree, of Skip Rock Distillers in Snohomish. Free refreshments follow the program.

Grow: Help food bank at gardening event
Sunnyside Nursery plans a gardening event April 6 that will double as a fundraiser for the Marysville Community Food Bank.
Ed Hume headlines the event, set for 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other speakers also will be on hand, covering such topics as grafting, soil, vertical gardening and more. There also will be entertainment and food.
The event and food are free. Guests are requested to make a cash donation to the Food Bank (monetary donations only), as well as to consider growing fresh produce to donate this season.

Donate: Help kids dress for warmer weather
Spring cleaning your closets? Clothes For Kids requests gently used children's clothing for spring and summer, including shorts, T-shirts, swimsuits, dresses and flip-flops, among other donations.
The nonprofit provides wardrobes for low-income families. More clients are added each year. Spring and summer shopping runs through May 23.

Give: Let that dress see another dance
Are prom and homecoming dresses taking up space in your closet? Elle Marie Hair Studio is collecting dresses through April 14 to distribute to various schools across Snohomish County, including at Henry M. Jackson High School's Prom Fair, set for April 24 in Mill Creek.
To show its appreciation, the salon offers a $10 gift certificate for each donor.

Admire: Camano quilters plan show
The Camano Island Quilters Guild presents its "Seams Like Home" quilt show, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 5 and 6 at Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st St. NW.
More than 200 quilts will be on display by fabric artists from Arlington, Marysville, Burlington, Mount Vernon, Stanwood and Camano Island. The show features artists Nita Heaphy and Martha White.
There will be demonstrations, a studio sale, vendors and more. Admission is $5.

Serve: IRS seeks advisory panel volunteer
The Internal Revenue Service seeks a volunteer to represent Washington on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, a federal advisory committee that listens to taxpayers, identifies key issues, and makes recommendations for improving IRS services.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, be current with federal tax obligations, be able to commit 200 to 300 hours during the year, and pass an FBI criminal background check. The three-year term starts in December.
Applications are due April 1 and are available at www.improveirs.org.
