MARYSVILLE — Three finalists have been selected for the job of superintendent of the Marysville School District.
The Marysville School Board on Saturday chose Deer Park Superintendent Becky Berg, Mount Vernon Superintendent Carl Bruner and Tony Byrd, an assistant superintendent in the Edmonds School District, to participate in the final round of interviews this week.
The public has a chance to participate in candidate visits and interviews that continue at 11 a.m., 4:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. today and Wednesday in the board room at the Marysville School District Service Center, located at 4220 80th St. NE. Staff, parents and students are encouraged to attend.
The superintendent candidates also plan to tour the school district, meet with principals, administrators and the Tulalip Tribes council.
Longtime Marysville Superintendent Larry Nyland is retiring at the end of this school year.
On Saturday, a team of interview observers provided written comments to the school board and scored candidates based on a list of search criteria that included student achievement, leadership, community partnerships, budget, student diversity and commitment to Marysville.
Among those who participated in the selection process were Bob Banks, Toni Bartley, Lynne Boze, Colleen Bradley, Doug Buell, Roma Cancio, Sandra Chavez, Donna Chrisman, Randy Davis, Chrissy Dulik Dalos, Marlin Fryberg, Sheryl Fryberg, Misty Gruber, Scott Irwin, Greg Kanehen, Kyle Kinoshita, Dean Ledford, Sandy Leerhoff, Lynn Lewis, Wendy Messarina Volson, Steve Muller, Dawn Oppocher, Tarra Patrick, Theresa Ramey, Ann Reed, Caldie Rogers, Dave Rose, Monica Sandoval, Eric Spencer, Jim Strickland, Tracy Suchan Toothaker, Angela Tait and Don Whitfield.
