Court to hear appeal from Clallam County embezzler
The Peninsula Daily news reported that Catherine A. Betts, 49, is appealing her 2011 conviction.
A jury found her guilty of aggravated first-degree theft, money laundering and filing false or fraudulent tax returns on behalf of the county. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Her lawyer, Jordan McCabe, argues in an appeals brief that several people in the treasurer's office could have manipulated financial records.
