The Buzz: Fuzzy food

Chia seeds, once relegated to tacky novelty gifts, have now displaced kale as the nominally edible superfood of choice for health-conscious folks. The seeds provide an ample source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber.

Warning: Consumption of chia seeds may inspire others to sing that obnoxious “ch-ch-ch-chia” jingle in your presence. Hearing protection is advised.

The new law, however, stops short of allowing space tourism operators to shove personal injury lawyers through airlocks into open space.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1973, the first handheld portable telephone was demonstrated in New York City.

The historic first wireless telephone conversation went like this: “Can you hear me? CAN YOU HEAR ME? Wait a sec while I walk over here. OK, can you hear me now? What? Say again? What? Hello? Are you there? Hello? Hello? … Aw, #$@ #$@# cellphones.[”]
