7 indicted in Bellingham pot investigation

SEATTLE -- A Bellingham man has surrendered to authorities after a federal grand jury handed down a 30-count indictment against him and seven others.
SeattlePI.com reported that federal prosecutors contend Scott Johnson spent at least a decade growing and selling marijuana.
Johnson was released on bond Tuesday after pleading not guilty to 26 charges.
According to investigators, Johnson's organization had been growing and selling marijuana in homes and properties around northwest Washington as well as shipping large amounts to New York.
According to investigators' statements to the court, the marijuana business was quite lucrative for Johnson. Over five years, more than $1 million moved through one of several bank accounts he controls, and he bought a large collection of property, cars and guns without any verifiable income.
Investigators contend Johnson used friends and shell businesses to hide his drug earnings.
A trial is currently set for June.
