Firefighters free llama trapped in deep mud

CANBY, Ore. -- Firefighters have freed a 15-year-old llama that sank into mud up to his belly after stepping into a marshy area near Canby, Ore.
Canby Fire District Division Chief Troy Buzalsky says the llama named Sgt. Pepper stayed calm after his right front leg and right hind leg became mired.
Buzalsky tells The Oregonian that a veterinarian sedated the animal before six firefighters rolled him out of the mud Tuesday evening.
The llama was unhurt.
