A Nordic Cuisine Workshop is planned from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 20 at the Bothell Sons of Norway, 23905 Bothell-Everett Highway, Bothell.
The hands-on cooking workshop includes recipes from each of the Nordic countries. Open to ages 12 and older. No cooking experience required.
At the end of the class, students and teachers are invited to taste their new creations. Recipe booklets included.
Cost is $30 for Bothell Lodge members and $35 for nonmembers.

Camano: Party for retiring official
Camano Island Fire and Rescue plans to celebrate the retirement of emergency manager Mike Simmons at 6 p.m. Monday.
Simmons served on Camano Island and in the Stanwood community for many years in the job and put in place innovative programs to help residents be self-sufficient and prepared for emergencies.
The event is planned for 7 p.m. before the fire commissioner's meeting at the Madrona Fire Station at 273 N. West Camano Drive. The public is also welcome to attend.
Marysville: Work out with kettlebell
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering beginner and intermediate kettlebell workout classes.
A kettlebell is a round weight with a handle at the top. In just two 30 minute classes per week, participants will gain lean muscle mass and flexibility.
Class includes cardio for a well-rounded routine. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at Totem Middle School, 1605 Seventh St. at 6:30pm, 7:00pm and 7:30 pm through April 30 for $42.

Learn to make sushi at workshop
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering a sushi making workshop.
Learn step-by-step instructions on how to make different types of sushi from Japan and the U.S. The class is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday. Cost is $42 plus a $5 materials fee. Class meets at the Jennings Park Barn, 6915 Armar Road.

Woodcarving class open to youths
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering a woodcarving basics class for youths ages 10-17.
Instructor Wade Faries will teach a solid foundation of knife safety, wood basics, grains, use of patterns and carving techniques.
Class meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $25 plus a $15 materials fee.

Terrace: Coffee with city officials
People are invited to join city officials for a cup of coffee and hear firsthand what's happening in the city. This casual event is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. April 10 at the Recreation Pavilion, 5303 228th Street SW.
People are encouraged to ask questions, provide opinions on city services or just listen to the conversation. The informal setting provides an opportunity to get involved, learn more about city government and its services and hear what's happening in Mountlake Terrace.
