Prep LAX update: Medlicott’s nine points leads Stanwood to win

LYNNWOOD – Frank Medlicott scored a season-high nine points to lead Stanwood to its fifth boys high school lacrosse win of the season with a narrow 14-13 defeat of Meadowdale on Tuesday at Lynnwood High School in a boys varsity Division I game.

Behind six goals and three assists by Medlicott, an Archbishop Murphy senior, Stanwood took a slim 7-6 lead at the half, before extending their advantage to 10-8 going into the final quarter.

Despite being outscored 5-4 in the fourth, Stanwood prevailed for the win.

Stanwood goaltender Jeremy Smith recorded 12 saves.

Gavin Hardwick led the scoring for Meadowdale with four goals and two assists. He also had three ground balls.

Stanwood (5-2-0) next faces Shorecrest (5-1-0), Tuesday, April 16 in a 5:30 p.m. start at Stanwood Middle School in Stanwood. Meadowdale (1-7-0) next faces Sehome-Bellingham (5-0-0), Thursday, April 11 in a 7 p.m. start at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham.

Snohomish defeats Mukilteo 13-2 in girls lacrosse

MUKILTEO – Megan Davis scored four goals as the Snohomish girls lacrosse team defeated Mukilteo 13-2, Tuesday at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.

Davis and Kayla Petz led all scorers with four goals apiece in the victory. Davis also recorded one ground ball on defense for the Panthers.

Melanie Rizzotti and Cheyenne McManus each scored one goal for Mukilteo in the team’s fourth loss of the season.

Panthers goalkeeper Daryia Tagg recorded a game-leading eight saves in Tuesday’s win. Mukilteo goalkeeper Kennedy Newman recorded six saves.

Snohomish (5-0-0) next faces Mercer Island (3-2-0) in an 8 p.m. matchup, Wednesday, April 10 at Mercer Island High School. Mukilteo (2-4-0) next faces Roosevelt (3-5-0) in a 5:30 p.m. matchup, Thursday, April 11 at Lower Woodland Park #2 in Seattle.
