Lost in space

Red planet indeed: Russian space enthusiasts scanning NASA images believe they have discovered the remains of a Soviet spacecraft that conked out shortly after landing on the planet in 1971.

They recognized the craft as a Soviet relic because of its technology that had been reverse-engineered from a 1962 Rambler American.

The cute, rich one: Paul McCartney remains Britain's wealthiest musician, with a fortune estimated at $1.05 billion, the Sunday Times of London reports.

And that figure soon will tick up to $1.06 billion, since tickets for Sir Paul's upcoming gig at Safeco Field can run on the high side of $300 apiece.

Raiders of the Lost Polymath: A new series on the Starz network re-imagines Leonardo da Vinci as a swashbuckling hero in the "Indiana Jones" mode.

So now we can add "outruns fireballs" to Leonardo's other skills: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer.
