Alaska fuel mix-up strands 2 dozen vehicles

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Hector Reyes says he knew something was wrong with his employer's truck when it started badly pinging a few minutes after he refueled it at a Bethel gas station.
Turns out the truck was among 24 vehicles that sputtered out after a gasoline tank at NorthStar Gas was accidently filled with diesel fuel. Four snowmobiles also were affected.
NorthStar manager Wesley Bennett says the mishap last week leaves the fuel distribution company with a mess that could run as high as $100,000 in repairs and the possible loss of more than 2,500 gallons of diesel. He says the loss is being covered by insurance.
Reyes, a facility maintenance worker at Ryan Air, says he took the repaired truck for a drive Wednesday and it seems to be running fine again.
