QUINCY — A Grant County sheriff’s spokesman says a homeowner in a rural area near the central Washington community of Quincy tackled an intruder he found heading out of his house with a family heirloom clock.
Spokesman Kyle Foreman says when homeowner Lawrence Molitor called 911 to report a burglary in progress he also mentioned he was in his kitchen, holding down a man he found inside the house.
Molitor said he was in another room attached to the home on Sunday when he heard noise outside and saw an unoccupied car idling in the driveway. When he entered his home, he saw the intruder.
Sheriff Tom Jones praised Molitor as “very brave.”
Deputies arrested 65-year-old Stephen M. Bowman of College Place for investigation of residential burglary, attempted third-degree theft, third-degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest.
Bowman was treated for a dislocated shoulder, then taken to jail.
