Seahawks will play four games in primetime in 2013

The NFL schedule came out just a few minutes ago, and as expected, the Seahawks are a popular pick in primetime, getting selected for two Monday Night Football appearances, and one each on Sunday night and Thursday night. Seattle play the 49ers at home on Sunday night in Week 2, at Arizona on Thursday night in Week 7, at St. Louis on Monday night in Week 8 and at home against New Orleans on Monday night in Week 13 (think we’ll see this play at all during the game).

The less exciting news for the Seahawks is that they play five games that kick off at 10 a.m. PT, though their late-season success on the road makes that a little less concerning than it has been in past year.

Here’s the full schedule:

Week 1—Sept. 8 at Carolina 10 am

Week 2—Sept. 15 vs. San Francisco 5:30 pm

Week 3—Sept. 22 vs. Jacksonville 1:25 pm

Week 4—Sept 29 at Houston 10 am

Week 5—Oct. 6 at Indianapolis 10 am

Week 6—Oct. 13 vs. Tennessee 1:25 pm

Week 7—Oct. 17 (Thurs) at Arizona 5:25 pm

Week 8—Oct. 28 (Mon) at St. Louis 5:40 pm

Week 9—Nov. 3 vs. Tampa Bay 1:05 pm

Week 10—Nov. 10 at Atlanta 10 am

Week 11—Nov. 17 vs. Minnesota 1:25 pm

Week 12—BYE

Week 13—Dec. 2 (Mon) vs. New Orleans 5:40 pm

Week 14—Dec. 8 at San Francisco 1:25 pm

Week 15—Dec. 15 at NY Giants 10 am

Week 16—Dec. 22 vs. Arizona 1:05 pm

Week 17—Dec. 29 vs. St. Louis 1:25 pm

A few notes on that… The late bye, combined with the Thurs/Mon setup in Week 7/8 gives Seattle two nicely spread out breaks in the season… I’m a bit surprised the game at Atlanta was not in primetime, and it’s a week too early to be flexed (that starts in Week 11)… If you though, like I initially did, that the Week 14 game at SF might be flexed, don’t bet on it. As a few folks on Twitter pointed out to me, FOX will almost certainly protect that game, meaning NBC couldn’t take it for SNF… Weeks 4-8 will be very challenging with four of five on the road, including games against Houston and Indy, which were both playoff teams last year.
