EVERETT — A group of appointed commissioners on Wednesday evening unanimously approved pay raises for some of the city’s 10 elected officials.
The 7-0 decision came during the second of two public hearings scheduled by the city’s Citizen Commission on Salaries of Elected Officials, which meets every other year.
Decisions made this year will apply in 2014 and 2015.
Current yearly pay for Mayor Ray Stephanson is about $159,000. The commission voted to raise it to $162,000 next year and to $167,000 in 2015.
Yearly pay for council members, under the proposal, would stay about $27,000. The council member selected as president would continue to get an extra 30 percent.
Municipal judge salaries are pegged to compensation for state District Court judges and would remain so under the proposal. The current pay for one Everett judge is about $142,000 and about $113,000 for the other, who works part time.
The draft salary schedule is available at www.ci.everett.wa.us/default.aspx?ID=1946.
