So you can’t wait for the Evergreen State Fair to open? Well, you don’t have to.
The Evergreen State Spring Festival is this weekend with a taste of what’s to come this August, including samples from a barbecue competition, a root beer and a regular beer garden.
The spring festival is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. Admission is free; parking is $5.
Butler Amusement opens its carnival rides starting at 4 p.m. Friday for three days of rides.
The spring festival also includes a free, fish for trout pond, sponsored by Les Schwab. There’s live music, roving entertainment and other fun activities for the kids such as side-by-side racing on the Evergreen Speedway’s Simulator, pedal tractors and 4-H tractor demonstrations, face painting and balloon twisting.
For adults there’s “Gardening with Ciscoe” sponsored by Oly-Mountain Fish Compost on Saturday, cooking demonstrations, flower displays and master gardeners to give gardening tips answers. The vendor list includes arts and crafts, jewelry, gardening, landscaping, cooking and health.
There’s also a 4-H Horse Show, the Sky Valley Swap Meet and the Western Heritage Museum will be open.
