Spring festival and more best bets for the weekend

Spring fun: The Evergreen State Spring Festival features music, a root beer garden with root beer floats, carnival rides and games, fair foods and the Washington State Spring BBQ Championship and a live trout fishing pond. Find the details in our story here.

Musical on the trail: If you are ready to watch some dramatic storytelling, listen to a gorgeous score and engage emotionally, then you are ready for Village Theatre’s new musical, “Trails.” The show tells the story of three friends with a troubled history, reuniting to hike the Appalachian Trail. The show opens Friday and also shows on Saturday and Sunday. Read about it in our story here.

Run or walk: The Heroes Half Marathon and 10K is on Sunday morning in Everett. Click here for more information and to register. Race packets can be picked up on Saturday or the day of the race.

Sassy: See a burlesque and variety show in Everett on Sunday. The show boasts it will bring “the sexy back to Everett” with a variety of performers such as headliner Seraphina Fiero; belly dancer Ava Raqs; Randi Rascal and Sailor St. Claire, who present an act with a court jester; a tattooed lady; and something secretive but very pink with feathers. Drink wine: The Snohomish Wine Festival is on Saturday. The event will feature wines from 20 Washington state wineries, including many from Snohomish County. Tickets are $30 and include a wine glass, eight tasting tickets and appetizers. Bottles of wine will be for sale at the event. There will be cheese samples, a chocolate tasting and ice cream from Snoqualmie Ice Cream. More details are in our story here.

Wine and more: Bethany’s Taste of the Northwest features 17 local wineries, seven breweries, a local distillery and non-alcoholic drinks. The event starts at 5 p.m. Friday in Everett. Find details in our story here.

On the stage: Whidbey Children’s Theatre is presenting “The Little Prince,” a story of love about a weary aviator whose plane crashes and strands her in the Sahara Desert where she meets a little prince from a far-away planet. The two explore the galaxy together. The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and runs for two weekends through May 5 at Whidbey Children’s Theatre, 222 Anthes Ave., Langley. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students, at the box office or by calling 360-221-2282.

Rollergirls: The Jet City Rollergirls have a bout at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the EvCC gym. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Click here for all the details and to get tickets.

For kids: The YMCA of Snohomish County’s Healthy Kids Day is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free and features a variety of activities for families to improve health and well-being. Events will take place at all five YMCA of Snohomish County branch locations. Activities vary by branch. Click here for details.

All about crows: Professor John Marzluff and Colleen Marzluff, authors of “Dog Days, Raven Nights,” will be speaking about crows and ravens at 1 p.m Saturday at Wild Birds Unlimited of Monroe, 19915 State Route 2. Call 360-863-9173 to reserve a spot or for more info.

Laugh: John Keister, star of “Almost Live” and “The 206” and Brooks McBeth, of Comedy Central and Mad TV, will put on a stand-up show on Sunday at 8 p.m. at One Eyed Jacks in Lynnwood. Tickets are $12. Buy them here.
