Deputies fight flames after fatal Spokane Valley accident

SPOKANE VALLEY -- One man is dead after a fiery, one-car accident in which his vehicle struck a large tree in Spokane Valley.
Spokane County deputies arrived at the scene of the accident on Monday morning to find the engine compartment of the vehicle on fire and the driver trapped inside.
Deputies used several fire extinguishers to keep the flames away from the driver. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and extricate the driver from the vehicle.
But the driver died later in the hospital. His identity was not immediately released.
