The city of Mountlake Terrace Police Department is hosting a seminar on “Personal Defense and Personal Safety Tips,” from 6 to 9 p.m. May 30 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23308 58th Ave. W.
The course is free. Topics include a pyramid of personal awareness, preincident indicators, do’s and don’ts on confronting criminals, deadly force encounters, shoot or don’t shoot decisions, family emergency planning and firearms options and personal defense equipment.

Powwow continues: The Native American Student Association at Edmonds Community College continues its powwow today at the campus at 20000 68th Ave W, Lynnwood.
Dance and drum ceremonies are scheduled for 1 and 7 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Sunday. During intermissions, 5-7 p.m., Saturday, enjoy American Indian storytelling.
This event is free and open to the public. This is a contest powwow; all dancers and drums welcome.
Powwows are social gatherings — open to all people — celebrating American Indian tribes’ traditions, styles of dance, songs families, and friendships. Dancers and drummers come to the college’s powwow from tribes throughout the Northwest and United States including locally, the Muckleshoot, Lummi, and Tulalip Tribes.
Bike swap donations needed: Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop is gearing up for their annual Kids Bike Swap and is seeking donations of working bikes, which volunteers will refurbish for the event on June 9.
