Meadowdale's Morgan Smith (right) wrestles with Glacier Peak's Tyler Sabin during their 160 pound final.

During this past season Meadowdale wrestling coach Brian Boardman equated Morgan Smith's work ethic with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

All that hard work paid off.

On Monday Smith, who won a 3A state title at 160 pounds this past February, signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle with Simon Fraser University next season.

Simon Fraser is in British Columbia but its wrestlers compete in the NCAA.

Pair headed to Doane

Two local athletes are headed to Nebraska to continue their wrestling careers.

Snohomish's Greg Eagle and Cedarcrest's Carlos Toledano have both signed National Letters of Intent to wrestle at Doane College (NAIA) in Crete, Neb. next season.

Other signees

Meadowdale's Anne Shirey is headed to the University of Puget Sound for swimming ... Marysville Pilchuck's Jordyn Nickolson is headed to Olympic College for softball ... Mountlake Terrace's Riley Morgan is headed to University of Northern Iowa for swimming.
