SULTAN — The city, along with the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce, is organizing a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Sept. 7.
The city is set to close First and Main streets to set up temporary basketball courts. Fourth graders to adults can register for the competition. The cost is $80 per children’s team and $96 per adult’s team.
Every team would be comprised of four people.
The city hopes to attract enough players to fill 30 teams. People can watch the games for free.
The one-day tournament is estimated to cost $5,000, which the city hopes to cover with sponsorships and volunteers, volunteer coordinator Donna Murphy said.
People interested in register can pick up the forms at City Hall, 319 Main St. or the Sky Valley Visitor’s Center, located in front of City Hall. They can also be downloaded from their websites at www.skyvalleychamber.com or http://ci.sultan.wa.us.
