LYNDEN — Kiana Smith hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and made a diving catch in foul territory down the third-base line to record the final out and Lakewood beat Lake Washington 3-2 to advance to the third-place game in the 2A District 1/2 softball tournament at Bender Fields on Friday. Hailey Malakowski limited the Kangaroos to just four hits in a complete-game victory. Lakewood faces Sedro-Woolley in the third-place game for the district’s final state berth at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
