PORT TOWNSEND — The state Transportation Commission approved an increase in Highway 520 floating bridge tolls at Wednesday’s meeting in Port Townsend.
New peak rates taking effect July 1 will be $3.70 for drivers with Good To Go accounts and $5.25 to pay by mail.
This year’s increase is the second of four annual 2.5 percent rate increases. A 15 percent increase is planned in 2016 when the new Lake Washington bridge starts carrying traffic between Seattle and its east side.
The commission says traffic and revenue are on track to provide more than $1 billion in funding for the new bridge.
