Nichole Carlson plans to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. She is the daughter of Calvin and Robin Carlson and the granddaughter of LeRoy and Emmy Carlson. She is a student at Cascade High School in Everett, where she is captain of the swim team and a Civil Air Patrol cadet. The Air Force requires that applicants excel in academics, athletics and leadership. She plans to swim at the academy and major in aeronautical engineering. She hopes to have her private pilot's license before she reports June 26 at the academy.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Paul B. Sparks graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Sparks earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Thomas Sparks of Mill Creek and is a 2010 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School.
Army Pfc. Adam M. Jacobson has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Jacobson is the son of Robert and Lola Jacobson of Everett. He is a 2011 graduate of Kamiak High School.
Army National Guard Pfc. Robert T. Zamora has graduated from basic military training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. Zamora is the son of Robert Zamora of Marysville. He is a 2006 graduate of Marysville Pilchuck High School.
Navy Seaman Tyler G. Mobley, son of Michelle and Scott Mobley of Oak Harbor, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Mobley is a 2012 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Navy Lt. j.g. Daniel J. Landerholm, son of Christine and Robert Landerholm of Edmonds, has earned the designation of Naval Aviator while serving at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas. Landerholm was presented with the coveted "Wings of Gold," marking the culmination of months of flight training. Landerholm is a 2005 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School and a 2009 graduate of Washington State University. He joined the Navy in October 2010.
Navy Seaman Recruit Calvin E. Driscoll, son of Sara E. Reed of Lynnwood, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Driscoll is a 2011 graduate of Scriber Lake High School of Edmonds.
