Go outside: Day use for all state parks is free on Saturday. Normally, visitors are required to display a trails pass. The free day is in conjuction with National Trails Day.
Cool art, cheap: The Schack will have an artist’s garage sale on Saturday in Everett. More than 100 artists’ work, including some pieces with minor imperfections, will be available for affordable prices. Art will include glass, paintings, photos, mixed media and more. Details are here.
Garden stuff, cheap: The Snohomish County Master Gardeners offer a garage sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at McCollum Park. All sorts of garden-related items will be available for sale. More info is here.
On the water: The Edmonds Waterfront Festival has dance and swing music, a reptile show, free fishing, a giant slide, a bungee trampoline and outrageous yachts to help you pretend you’re a millionaire. The festival is Friday to Sunday in Edmonds. Get more info here.
Get Movin’: Kickoff events are Saturday in Lynnwood, Marysville and Everett for the annual program that encourages kids to stay physically active. Read about it here.
Cute animals: Longnecker’s Alpaca Farm at 9506 131st Ave. NE, Lake Stevens, welcomes visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. They will be shearing alpacas, and visitors will get a chance to meet some of the animals. You can also shop their store for alpaca fiber. Get more info here.
Mini hydroplanes: The Silver Lake Hydroplane Races are from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday at Thornton A. Sullivan Park, 11405 W. Silver Lake Road, Everett. You can watch the races and get a free pit pass to see boats up-close. There will be food available for purchase.
For pug lovers: The Seattle Pug Rescue’s Pug Gala is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Fairgrounds. There will be a parade of rescue pugs, raffles, pug talent show, agility and more; admission $5 to $10; ages 5 and younger and dogs get in free, but only pugs and pug mixes are permitted.
