13 schools honored for work in musical theater

It's that time of year when high school drama departments across Snohomish County take their bow.
Nominees for this year's 5th Avenue Awards have been announced and the list of Snohomish County high schools receiving nominations is impressive.
The 5th Avenue Awards are an annual ceremony presented by Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre to recognize outstanding achievement in musical theater from high schools all over Washington state.
The nominees are all invited to the The 5th Avenue Awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the theater, 1308 Fifth Ave., Seattle.
The 5th Avenue Theatre especially singled out the outstanding achievement of so many schools in the city of Everett were nominated. The evaluators had to choose from among 105 productions.
"With so many productions in consideration, this is a prestigious honor," the 5th Avenue announced in a press release.
The nominated high schools in Everett and throughout the county are:
Archbishop Murphy High School; "H.M.S. Pinafore": Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role -- Mariah Conley as Josephine; Outstanding Performance by a Chorus (Honorable Mention)
Cascade High School; "Brigadoon": Outstanding Costume Design (Honorable Mention)
Glacier Peak High School; "Bye Bye Birdie": Outstanding Hair/Makeup Design; Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role -- Hayden Call as Albert Peterson; Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Honorable Mention) -- Erin Wygant as Mae Peterson
Jackson High School; "Once Upon a Mattress": Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Featured Ensemble Role (Honorable Mention) -- Dan Cho as Jester.
Kamiak High School; "Sweeney Todd": Outstanding Music direction; Outstanding Orchestra; Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role -- Trevor Eaden as Sweeney Todd; Special Honors: Student Achievement -- Violet Walsh
