TACOMA — One of Washington’s most notorious sex offenders is running for a job as a Port of Tacoma commissioner.
Andre Brigham Young, who calls himself Andre “Doctor Dre” Young, said he wants to make up for the years he said the state took from him.
The News Tribune reported that the 72-year-old Level 3 sex offender spent 20 years in prison on six rape convictions and another 20 years committed at the sex predator Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.
Young said he was wrongly convicted and his commitment illegal. He refused treatment. He has not been arrested since his release in 2010.
