Front Porch: Free emergency-preparedness classes offered in Everett

Disaster planning
The Everett Fire Department is offering a Summer Community Emergency Response Team class from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday mornings, July 22 through Aug. 15. The free classes will provide a variety of disaster planning, recovery and survival skills aimed at surviving and assisting our community in disaster response and recovery.
Everett residents and business owners are encouraged to participate or send employees to these. Applications are available at the Everett Office of Emergency Management and are due no later than July 8. Craft bazaar/bake sale: The Granite Falls Senior Center is having a craft bazaar/bake sale open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There are still a few tables open for vendors. For more information, contact Erika at 360-691-7177. The center's address is 302 S. Granite Ave., Granite Falls.
Patrol hiring troopers: The Washington State Patrol is hiring troopers.
A recruitment event is planned to begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Lynnwood High School at 18218 North Road. The event will include a physical fitness test and a written test.For more information, go to wsp.wa.gov or contact trooper Keith Leary at Keith.leary@wsp.wa.gov or 425-583-7640.
