KENNEWICK — The Washington State Patrol says a dropped can of soda is to blame for a crash that injured two semi-truck drivers south of Kennewick.
The Tri-City Herald reported that 42-year-old James Gill, of Kennewick, was driving his 2010 Freightliner on Friday afternoon when he dropped the can on the floorboard and reached down to pick it up. The truck struck a 2007 Freightliner being driven by 56-year-old Edward Dimmick, also of Kennewick.
Both were taken to hospitals. Gill was treated and released, while there was no record of Dimmick being admitted.
The State Patrol says Gill faces second-degree negligent driving charges.
