EVERETT — Detectives continue to investigate what caused a man to lose control of a Ford Explorer and strike a guardrail on northbound Highway 529 Friday evening.
A passenger in the vehicle was ejected and died at the scene. The man’s identity has not been released.
The driver, believed to be a 40-year-old Ocean Shores man, was injured and taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. An update on his condition was not available.
Witnesses told investigators that the man was driving erratically before he struck the inside barrier near Steamboat Slough, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. The vehicle rolled and landed on its wheels. It traveled another half mile before crashing into a median.
The fatal accident closed parts of the highway for a few of hours while Everett police detectives investigated.
