QUINCY — The pilot was injured after a helicopter crashed into a cherry orchard in Grant County.
The Grant County Sheriff’s office says 31-year-old Christopher Iezzoni of Tumwater suffered back injuries and was having trouble breathing after Monday morning’s crash.
The Spokesman-Review reported that he was transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office said the crash occurred when the helicopter became tangled in bird control netting while flying over a cherry orchard.
Helicopters are often used this time of year to blow water off cherries in an effort to keep the fruit from splitting open after rainfall.
