The WHL released its preseason schedule today.
It’s pretty much an ideal schedule for the Tips, who have seven preseason contests. First of all, the Everett Silvertips Preseason Tournament is back to six teams after being limited to the five U.S. Division teams the past couple years, as Victoria joins the fray. That means everyone plays all three days, and there’s three games a day instead of two. So fans in Everett will be able to get a full hockey overdose over Labor Day weekend.
The Tips then, as usual, head to Kennewick for two games at the Tri-City Preseason Tournament. It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Tips as they play Friday night at 7:05 and Saturday morning at 11:00. Hopefully there’s still plenty of players competing for roster spots at that point. Otherwise, there’s going to be some weary players in that second game.
Everett concludes the preseason with it’s standard home-and-home set against Seattle. What’s particularly nice about that this year is that the teams don’t play one another earlier in the preseason, like they have in the past. I can’t remember for sure, but wasn’t there a year where the Tips and T-birds played something like four times in the preseason?
Anyway, here’s Everett’s full preseason schedule, including the full schedule for the preseason tournament:
