SEATTLE — A Federal Way man accused of yelling racial slurs while beating a Sikh man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a federal hate crime.
Forty-nine-year-old Jamie Larson was arrested last October after a witness called 911 to report the beating of a 50-year-old Indian man who transported Larson in his cab.
The attack happened after police called a cab to pick up Larson because he was too intoxicated to drive or walk.
Court documents show the victim was injured on his back, shoulder and kidney. He was hospitalized for more than a week and has undergone lengthy physical therapy.
The hate crime charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled in U.S. District Court on Nov. 5.
