KELOWNA, B.C. — The Everett Merchants scored five runs in the third inning and went on to beat the Nanaimo Coal Miners 10-5 in the Merchants’ opening game at the Kelowna Tournament on Friday.
Max Whitt hit 3-for-4, including an RBI triple, and Jonny Varriano launched a two-run home run for Everett.
The Merchants continue their tourney today by taking on the North Sound Emeralds and the Thurston County Senators.
