EVERETT — The father of a 2-month-old boy was charged Tuesday in connection with the infant’s death.
Prosecutors allege that Brian Perez Reyes, 23, recklessly caused his son’s death. The boy suffered a significant head injury, likely caused by being violently shaken, court papers said.
Daniel Levi Perez Reyes was rushed to the hospital June 28 after he stopped breathing. He died the next day. The boy’s father told investigators that he’d accidentally dropped his son. Doctors, however, don’t believe the boy’s injuries were consistent with a fall.
The Everett man was charged in district court with first-degree manslaughter and assault of a child. Prosecutors are expected to refile the case into Snohomish County Superior Court by July 19. Perez Reyes is being held on $2 million bail.
Officials with Child Protective Services said Tuesday they don’t have any previous history involving the boy or his parents.
