Bill Iffrig, 78, starts The Run of the Mill 5k in Mill Creek on Saturday morning. Iffrig is the Lake Stevens runner who was thrown to the ground by a blast while approaching the finish line in the Boston Marathon on April 15. Iffrig didn't compete in Saturday's race, which attracted more than 1,400 runners. Patrick Smyth, of Salt Lake City, won the men's event in a time of 14 minutes, 44 seconds. Rose Wetzel, of Seattle, was the top women's finisher with a time of 17:12.
