Edmonds water sport adventure camp holds open house
The weeklong camps give kids a chance to experience ocean level sports, and to learn about marine science, and underwater photography and video.
This is the fifth year that the Edmonds parks department has offered Beach Camps. This summer underwater photographer and filmmaker Annie Crawley is the director and there’s a new curriculum.
At the open house families can try out water sports for all skill levels, touch ocean creatures in a touch tank, view shallow water sealife using Aquanaut helmets, and enjoy free hotdogs and other snacks.
Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling will be at Friday’s event to launch the revamped program.
The open house is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at 14725 Norma Beach Road, Edmonds.
The open house also offers parents a chance to learn about the camps’ science-based curriculum, the day and sleepover options, and how to enroll their children. The weeklong camps, for ages 10 to 17, continue through Aug. 30 and cost $350 to $700.
To sign up for Beach Camp, contact the Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department at 425-771-0230 bit.ly/12rUEez.
