Barista thwarts coffee-stand robbery near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD -- Police are investigating a robbery reported about noon Thursday at a coffee stand along Highway 99 near Lynnwood.

A man with a mask over his face tried to rob the stand at knifepoint, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. The stand is in the 16100 block of the highway, just north of 164th Street SW.

The barista slammed the window on the robber's hand, and he ran away without getting any money, Ireton said.

He was wearing a bright-yellow hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. No other suspect description was given. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information should call 425-388-3845.
