Outdoor movies:You have several options to catch a film outdoors this weekend.

  • “The Pirates: Band of Misfits” plays at Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake on Friday. Pre-show entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m. The movie starts at dusk. More information.
  • “The Lion King” plays at Swedish/Edmonds Hospital, 21601 76th Ave. W, Edomonds at 9 p.m. on Friday. More information.
  • “Shark Tale” plays at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road at 9 p.m. on Saturday. More information.

Go play: Kla Ha Ya days runs through Sunday in Snohomish. There will be a parade, car show, kids’ fair, carnival, fun run and much more. On Saturday and Sunday, a barbecue competition will be part of the fun. Get the details in our story here.

Gardens and quilts: The Mukilteo Garden &Quilt Tour is Saturday and Sunday. Quilts will be displayed in various gardens on the self-guided tour. Read more in our story here.

Bluegrass: The Darrington Bluegrass festival kicks off on Friday and runs through Sunday. Artists from all over the country will perform. Get all the details in our story here.

Crabbing: Try something new at a speed crabbing derby on Saturday. Check in is from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. and the derby starts at 8 a.m. Get more information here or read Wayne Kruse’s early column here.

Going Batty: Bat expert Barbara Ogaard will introduce you to the world of bats, dispelling myths and sharing how bats are beneficial to humans and the environment. The event will features live bats. It’s from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Mukilteo Library. Get more information here.

Green thumb: Get some inspiration to improve your garden on the Edmonds Garden tour on Sunday. Six gardens are featured in the self-guided tour. Get details in our story here.

Yard sale: Everett Downtown Storage, 3615 McDougall Ave., is hosting an indoor yard sale and storage auction event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The public can attend the event as a buyer or seller. Get details at 425-259-1506. The proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Sand and art: Lots of art will be available at an arts and craft fair at McCormick Park in Duvall on Saturday and Sunday. There will be music, dancing, food and more. You can watch a sand sculpture artist create a work of art throughout the weekend. More info is here.

Farm and jam fest: Biringer Farm in Arlington has a farm fest and jam contest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. If you bring your own jam (made with Biringer berries) to the event, you get a free flat of berries. Activities include lots of fun for kids. Check out the details here.

Garden cocktails: Learn how to turn the herbs, flower, berries and more in your garden into cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, infusions and more. A seminar at Molbak’s in Woodinville is at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Get details here.
