Motorcyclist involved in pair of crashes on I-5

EVERETT -- Troopers are investigating two related accidents on northbound I-5 on Tuesday in Everett.
A motorcyclist crashed about 3:05 p.m. on the freeway, just north of the Everett Mall, said trooper Mark Francis with the Washington State Patrol.
About a minute later, the motorcyclist was struck by a Sound Transit bus, Francis said.
The man was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson said.
He was listed in stable condition and was expected to survive, Francis said. He may have avoided serious injuries because he went under the bus axle, not the wheels. Crews initially requested a medical helicopter, Robinson said. The request later was canceled.
Traffic slowed in the area for more than an hour.
