The Seattle Storm will have a representative in Saturday’s all-star game after all. Tina Thompson, the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer was added to the Western Conference roster on Thursday, replacing rookie Brittney Griner, who will miss the game with a knee injury.
It is the ninth all-star appearance for Thompson, surpassing Lisa Leslie and Tamika Catchings, who will play in her eighth all-star game on Saturday.
Thompson has announced that she will retire at season’s end.
Griner, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft, isn’t the only high draft pick who won’t be in action on Saturday. Chicago’s Elena Delle Donne, the No. 3 overall pick this year and the all-star game’s leading vote getter, will also miss the game with a concussion.
