STANWOOD — A single-car rollover accident early Wednesday morning near the Mark Clark Bridge separating Camano Island and Stanwood caused a major backup for commuters.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m., the Washington State Patrol reported.
The 19-year-old driver of a Subaru was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault, trooper Mark Francis said. He was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
A passenger, 21, suffered a possible skull fracture. He was sitting in the middle of the back seat when he was ejected from the car, Francis said.
He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The Subaru hit a guardrail before rolling over, Francis said.
The accident left one lane for traffic, causing long backups while troopers allowed alternating groups of cars past the rollover.
