Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

Sale of the Pay Little Drug Store on Highway 99 S. in the Anderson Shopping Center, Intercity, was announced by Arlyn Tozer. Purchaser was Ray Simonton. Mrs. Tozer and her late husband, George, long-time Everett pharmacist, had established Pay Little in 1961.

Already one of the busiest spots in the north county area, the Free Methodist Warm Beach grounds were going to become even busier as the result of a decision to proceed with the construction of Warm Beach Manor, a $1.5 million retirement home.

25 years ago (1988)

Dave McBoehm, a Chicago advertising recently relocated to Snohomish County, had never attended n unlimited hydroplane race. Margaret Pinzler, a nurse at Everett's General Hospital, had only been involved in the Northwest racing scene for a short time. Yet hydroplane owner bill McFadden hoped to get both on board to help arrange for a hydro from Everett.

Some residents had brought a Monroe neighborhood closer together with their opposition to the Scandia Meadows Development. Among them were Bud Thomas, Cheri Vanhalle, Bette Keck, Gordon Keck, Kay Malters, Pam Kline and Jim Kline.

By Jack O'Donnell from Herald archives at the Everett Public Library.
